RELATED TO THE PERSON WITH DISABILITY AND ELDERLY (ORKID WEC 2017)
This WEC will be held on 8th – 9th November 2017
at Dewan Tunku Canselor (DTC),
University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The theme for the workshop, exhibition and competition is
“Improving Quality of Life and Fostering Independence”.
It will bring together an inter-disciplinary team of participants, comprising members of the public, government officials and the corporate sector. WEC 2017 will highlight innovations for helping people with visual, physical and neurological impairments. It will also explore accessibility as well as other related issues for those who are differently-abled, to ensure that all members of society will have access to the various emerging technological innovations and can enjoy the benefits.
The objectives of ORKID WEC 2017 are:
to gather experts to discuss current issues related to independent living for the differently-abled and senior citizen in Malaysia.
to highlight innovations which are meant to help and assist the differently-abled and the elderly with their everyday activities.
to establish UM as center of excellence in research related to disabilities and independent living.
to create a forum to bring together people with different abilities including the able-bodied, differently-abled and the elderly.
